RECAP: Whive AMA with the SWFT blockchain community!
The Whive protocol developers held their first-ever Ask-Me-Anything(AMA) session on July 23, 2021, on the SWFT community Telegram channel, a few days after the Whive coin($WHIVE) had been listed on the fast-growing cryptocurrency exchange, allowing the SWFT community to interact with the token through their trading platform.
As expected, the session drew great interest from the audience since the Whive protocol is an open-source blockchain project optimized for the renewable energy use case, with the ongoing proof-of-concept on the ground in East Africa. The two-hour-long interactive session brought together an array of crypto enthusiasts and pundits including; developers, analysts, and traders.
In explaining the origins of the Whive protocol, the developers pointed out that the blockchain protocol came out of the BitHub Africa community which is one of the largest blockchain communities globally.
“The Whive protocol is built to allow for only small computer processor CPU mining and is resistant to both medium scale mining(GPU) and Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) high scale mining. These features allow for use of the Whive protocol for distributed energy applications that reward adoption of sustainable energy e.g. Solar.”
It was noted that there had been a gap left in the renewable energy sector for a long time despite its sources being the most readily available ones. It was stated that Whive is aimed at solving the renewable energy problem by allowing for distributed energy applications especially in regions of the World that have high Solar Reliability Indices(SRIs) such as South East Asia(SEA) and Africa. The blockchain would further reward people who take advantage of renewables such as solar using the protocols consensus algorithm.
“The Whive protocol is supporting needed solutions such as the distributed solar energy Markets, which has a potential size of $10 trillion globally. In Africa alone, about 500,000 households are the initial target of this solution. This is a huge untapped market that has not been developed and we have applications such as the Melanin Solar application that are being developed to take advantage of this potential.”
The Whive protocol, which is an open-source & peer-to-peer blockchain protocol that is incentivizing the building of sustainable distributed energy solutions through trustless rewards has since seen adoption in over 15 countries, fast-scaling up due to its working solutions such as CPU mining.
Upon realizing the difficulties associated with mining high-scale cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, mainly due to their high energy efficiency, maintenance and purchase of rig costs especially in most rural parts of the world, the developers designed and optimized an improved CPU-friendly protocol. This means that one can now easily mine Whive rewards with small gadgets including PCs and smartphones without breaking a sweat and more importantly, the bank.
Some of the Whive community developers and contributors have already launched a startup that is using Whive to reward solar adoption in East Africa, a project it plans to roll out worldwide in the next few years.
It was also noted that increased adoption and use of the Whive based solar solution by millions of households across the World would greatly tackle the poverty problem and reduce pollution in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
The lead developer concluded by assuring that the Whive protocol and by the large, the community, was committed to ensuring communities around the world realized their full energy potential through its blockchain-embedded solar-driven project.
